Enquire ↗Part of Indaba

The Institute

A home for learning. A commitment to childhood.

Rooted in South Africa, Indaba brings together Montessori teacher education, community-rooted practice and the preparation of adults who care deeply about children.

Our beginnings

A local commitment, an open horizon.

Indaba’s work grows from a conviction that the quality of childhood should not depend on circumstance. Teacher education and community relationships belong together: rigorous study must remain connected to the places in which children live.

What we hold in common

Respect is where we begin.

We value the dignity of the child, the knowledge of communities and the continuing development of the adult. These commitments shape how we approach learning, welcome questions and consider the environments we help prepare.

Our work today

Different pathways. A shared purpose.

The Institute’s catalogue brings together AMI diploma and certificate pathways, the EsF Community Rooted Education programme, and CARE caregiver training for the home. Each serves a different professional purpose. Explore the individual course pages and speak with admissions about the next confirmed offering.

Educational standards

Clarity is part of care.

Prospective students should know the award, requirements and teaching arrangements before committing. Current course authorisations, faculty assignments and cohort details must be confirmed in the relevant programme documentation. We distinguish AMI qualifications from CoRE, CARE caregiver training and from the future University vision.

Our people and relationships

An institution is made by people.

Educators, facilitators and colleagues bring experience from classrooms, community settings and institutional life. Meet the people listed in the Institute’s existing community directory and discover the work they support.

Southern Africa and beyond

A place to begin a conversation.

Whether you are considering study, professional exchange or a community partnership, tell us what brings you here. Our published office address is in Somerset West; please arrange any visit directly with the team.
