Look from the child’s height
A shelf may appear organised to an adult and remain impossible for a child to use. Preparing an environment begins with a change of viewpoint: what can the child reach, understand and return independently?
Give an activity a place
A clear place for each activity can help a child make a choice and care for shared materials. Thoughtful preparation need not depend on expensive furniture. It depends on attention to purpose, safety and use.
Keep observing
An environment is never finished. Children change, relationships develop and new needs become visible. Observation helps adults make considered adjustments rather than adding more simply because more is available.
